đŸ«– What Is Tea & Spice? ☕

Tea & Spice conversations are community-based focus groups where women come together to share their real-life health experiences—with each other and with TCY’s trained facilitators. These sessions aren’t just storytelling circles—they’re a research tool rooted in care, connection, and change.

We call them “Tea & Spice” because, across cultures, tea symbolizes connection, healing, and care—and spices carry power, tradition, and strength. Together, they set the tone for a space that is both comforting and courageous.

💭 Why Storytelling?

For too long, women’s voices have been left out of the research that shapes our health systems. Every woman’s story holds wisdom that can help us uncover the root causes of what's broken—and imagine what better health & care should look like.

That’s why Tea & Spice sessions are grounded in community-based participatory research (CBPR) and designed as focus groups that value lived experience as valid data.

💡 What We Learn 📖

Tea & Spice focus groups help us:

  • Identify the multiple barriers women face in getting the care they need.

  • Understand what resources and support can make that care possible.

  • Design solutions that are community-informed and culturally relevant.

  • Turn stories into data that drives change in health systems & policies.

🍃 What Grows From Here 🌿

In each 90-minute Tea & Spice session—virtual or in-person—8 to 10 women gather in a space of trust, care, and connection, guided by trained TCY facilitators. With tea in hand, stories are shared, barriers are named, and collective wisdom is woven into change.

These aren’t just conversations—they are the roots of transformation đŸŒ±. Every story plants a seed for the future of women’s health—and together, we’ll grow something better.
